Reserva de la Familia Red

A FAMILY TRADITION

OENOLOGY: Ana Gómez de Segura

VITICULTURE: José Antonio Gómez de Segura

VINEYARD

REGION: D.O.Ca. Rioja , District: Rioja Alavesa

WINEYARDS: 38-year-old vineyards located in the municipality of Laguardia. The soil is a type of very poor calcareous clay on south-facing hillsides. These wholly-owned vineyards are home to Tempranillo variety grapes and harvested manually.

CLIMATE: Mediterranean climate with some Atlantic influence, extreme difference between summer and winter.Annual rainfall: 400 liters

WINEMAKING: The grapes are de-stalked and the must stored in stainless steel tanks where it remains for approximately 10 days after it completes its alcoholic fermentation, thus achieving greater colour extraction and more complex and tannic wines that are optimal for longer ageing. It ages in Bordeaux casks of new, medium-toasted French oak wood, where it remains for 12 months while malolactic fermentation takes place. Its ageing is completed in the bottle.

WINE

TASTING NOTES: An intense, cherry red colour covered with light hues of Terracotta, very glossy and bright. Highly intense and complex bouquet that comes from excellent ageing. Hints of roasted coffee and black berries of excellent intensity appear. In the mouth, it is balanced with a fleshy, mature and broad mid-palate and aromatic nuances with a powerful finish and the finesse and elegance of a great wine.

PAIRING: This wine has great personality to accompany sirloin steaks with Foie Gras, game meat, grilled lamb or stew with spices, highly cured fermented or blue cheeses.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16 – 18 ºC
